How it works
Each template is a complete plan for one mosaic. You choose a design, download it straight after paying, print the sheets and lay the pieces.
What you get
- Colour-by-number guide (PDF). The whole design on one page with every piece numbered by colour, plus the colour key.
- Actual-size laying sheets (PDF). The design at full size, split across A4 pages (some designs use A3), to tape together and work on directly.
- Numbered guide (SVG). The same layout as a scalable drawing you can zoom into on screen.
- Colour list (CSV). Every colour with its stock name and how many pieces you need, to take shopping.
Buying and downloading
- Choose a template and click Buy template.
- Pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. You don't need an account.
- Download straight away from the thank-you page. We also email you the download link, which works for 7 days.
Printing the sheets
Print the laying sheets at 100% / actual size. In the print window, turn off "fit to page" or "scale to fit". Before you start, measure a piece or the stated size on one sheet to check the scale is right.
Materials
Smalti templates are designed for Mexican smalti (Perdomo colours) and are also suitable for Italian smalti. The colour list gives the nearest stock colour for each one. See where to buy smalti.
AllMosaics templates use the real shapes of the named product (for example Ceramic Jigsaw or Snippets), so buy that product in the colours listed.
Laying
Work from the actual-size sheets: lay each piece over its outline in the colour its number shows. Most makers lay the outlines and fine details first, then fill the rows. Real hand-cut pieces vary a little, so treat the sheets as your guide, not a mould.
Safety
Cutting smalti and glass throws sharp chips. Wear eye protection and gloves, work over a tray, and keep children and pets away. Use adhesives and grout in a ventilated room and follow their instructions.
